

Louise Riedel, a longtime resident of Suffern, NY and a winter resident of Palm Beach Shores, Florida, died on March 31, 2017 at the age of 98. She was born December 22, 1918 in the Bronx to Christian and Frances (Berg) Benz. In 1940 Louise graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in language. She worked for an international missionary society in New York and later became co-owner and bookkeeper for Paramus Machine Corp. In addition to her love of language, Louise was an avid gardener, lover of nature, and a fantastic cook. No one that visited left hungry or without a bouquet of flowers from her garden. Up to her last days, she was always the quintessential hostess. She also loved reciting poetry and singing her favorite German songs.
Louise is survived by her loving daughters Barbara Antonelli (husband Chip) and Johanna Tomik (husband Carl), devoted grandchildren Steven Antonelli (wife Kate), David Antonelli (wife Melissa), Matthew Tomik (wife Chris), John Antonelli (wife Kendall), Scott Tomik and Michael Tomik, cherished great-grandchildren Dylan, Thomas, Heidi, Brooke, Everett, Coogan, Elia and Jack. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and her very special loving companion Dennise Walker. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Hans and caring siblings George Benz and Elfriede Christian.
Visitation hours are from 4PM to 7PM on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rte 59, Suffern, NY. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River, NJ followed by interment at the Airmont Lutheran Cemetery.
