Lucia Marguerite Dagracalobo passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born on July 6, 1940 in the Bronx, NY to Anastacio and Maria Iluminada Maldonado. Lucia grew up alongside her seven brothers and sisters, where her love for music and family was born and deeply cherished.
She was the devoted wife of Carlos Dagracalobo for 63 years. Together, they raised four children: Irene (Kevin), Vinny (Joanne), David, and Natalie. She was the proud grandmother of seven, Danielle, Taylor, Joseph, Anthony, Lola, Keira and Avery and great-grandmother to two beloved little ones, Kolton and Isla.
Lucia dedicated her life to her family and community. For over 15 years she was dedicated to her career as a social worker in the Yonkers School District, building lasting relationships with both the community and the children she so passionately served.
Lucia cherished her family above all else, finding joy in every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved making memories that would last a lifetime and brought laughter wherever she went with her sharp sense of humor. Whether she was gathered with loved ones or shopping the streets of Manhattan, she embraced life with warmth, style, and an unforgettable spirit. Lucia will always be remembered as someone who truly wanted to make a difference in this world—putting others before herself and dedicating her life to helping those in need.
A celebration of Lucia's life will be held on Friday, August 8th from 2pm-9pm and Saturday, August 9th from 12pm-2pm, at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59. Suffern, NY 10901 with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Legs Good Animal Shelter or Tevaland Animal Sanctuary, in honor of Lucia’s deep love for animals and her lifelong commitment to their care—places she supported faithfully and from which she lovingly adopted many of her animals in need.
