Marguerite Océanie Pierre-Louis, a beloved matriarch, friend, and guiding light, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Monsey, NY, at the age of 99. She was known by many affectionate nicknames: Annie, Alalie, Mante Ti Cia…
Born on June 11, 1926, in Saint-Marc, Haiti, Marguerite was the cherished daughter of the late Orius and Lorzina (née Facile) Dorcélus. Her life was marked by quiet strength, boundless compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.
She was the loving wife of the late Louis Gérard Pierre-Louis for 61 years.
Our dearest Annie migrated to the US in June 1980 where she lived until her passing 45 years later.
She worked for a period of 10 years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.
Marguerite’s legacy is carried on by her loving children: Marie-Michele, Jocelyne, Harry, Roseline, Nerlande and Juno. She also had two other children, Moline* and Eventz* who preceded her in Heaven.
She was very close to her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law: Carl, Surzie, Jeff, Charmant, and Dara.
To continue her legacy, God has blessed our Annie with many grandchildren: Annie.J, Jean-Michel, Patrice, Jesse, Kisha*, Carl-Harry, Nathanya, Alan-Michael, Sasha, Tashnee, Alec, Cortney, Nehemiah, Azarias, Annie. H and Esai.
Great-grandchildren: Anna-Maria, Stephane, Jozie, Annie, Jade, Teagan, Declan, Ariyah, Gaia, Isaiah and Liliana Sofia.
Great-great-grandchild: Matheo
Marguerite is survived by many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. Two of them, Remus and Isabella, are even considered as her own children.
Her love extended far beyond her immediate family; all her in-laws from her husband’s side were considered as closed family members.
She was known affectionately as “everyone’s grandmother,” embracing friends, neighbors, and the wider community as her own.
A generous soul, Marguerite was well known for her hospitality and her gift for cooking, which she continued to share joyfully with others until she was no longer physically able. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and nourishment—both physical and spiritual.
Marguerite was a devoted parishioner of The Church of St. Joseph in Spring Valley, NY, where she worshiped faithfully and was an active member of the Legion of Mary. Her faith guided her life and inspired those around her to walk with grace and compassion.
To know Marguerite was to know a woman of love, courage, and enduring generosity. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
