My heart grieves deeply that you are no longer with us.  My dear Aunt Maria, it was my privilege to have you for my aunt. You have taught me much about life and children. You taught me about babies, growing children up to young adulthood. These children were my 7 Villanyi cousins. You were my example of how to be a mother. Thank you,  made me a better person. You were always kind and sweet to me. You helped me to learn English in the first year after we came to America in 1957. Thank you for taking the time. You are very much loved and will be greatly missed. Until we meet again. I love you. 

Aunt Marie is one of my most favorite people on this planet.  Growing up next door to her, she became another grandmother to me.  I loved swimming in her pool and sitting in her kitchen listening to stories.  Even when I went off to college, the first thing I would do after making the 10 hour drive home, was hop over the rock wall to visit with her.  And as I got older, she remained an important part of my life, making the trek down to North Carolina for my wedding, and knitting my children blankets and sweaters that I still have and treasure today. She was the sweetest and I loved her dearly.  Sending so much love and light to all the family. 

I adored Marie and loved being in her presence she exuded love and joy and spunky positivity. I know you will miss her so much and it will hurt for she was a beautiful woman. Her sparkle lives on in all of you.  Love to each of you as you navigate through your grief.

Like everyone I have been thinking a lot about Mrs Villanyi over the past few weeks,  along with Mr Villanyi, Miriam and the whole Villanyi family. 
When I first met Mrs. Villanyi 45 years ago she was giving me a ride back to Sloatsburg and she was driving a big old Oldsmobile or Buick and she had pillows behind her and beneath her so she could see over the dash. Her foot barely reached the gas pedal but she got me there in no time. I remember thinking she’s tiny but mighty. What a spitfire with her German accent. 
I come from a family with solid work ethic but she gave that new meaning working overnight shifts at a plant in my town. I remember she would be tired come Fridays, but she always came home Saturday mornings with a smile on her face and an armful of white bakery bags full of delicious things for breakfast. It tasted so good after our Friday late night Shenanigans. 
She welcomed me and always made me feel like family, she included me in their Summer beach vacations when she already had a full house along with countless family dinners. Over the years many weddings and grandchildren came and she helped raise them all. Mr. Villanyi became ill and when he passed she lost a little twinkle in her eye and part of her heart was broken but she loved being with the family and helping with the grandkids any way she could. She overcame so many major health complications like a warrior, again tiny but mighty.
I have been blessed to have her loveable strong soul in my life over the last 45 years and I thank all of you for sharing her with me. 
What a beautiful gift!

My condolences to the entire Villanyi family. As Joe’s best friend, Mrs. Villanyi was my  ‘second mom’ throughout my grade school and high school years, as well as when I would return home to Suffern to visit during college and, later, during vacation visits. 
     I have nothing but good memories of the Villanyi Ward St. home and the love
Mrs. V had for her family, and for me.  I was always greeted with a big smile, a bigger hug, and something to eat! We never lacked for food in the Villanyi home!
     At 66 years old, I have found that there are very few people who impacted my life the way Mrs. V did, and still does.
    Rest in Peace Mrs. V.
