Marie Truffa

Marie Truffa, of Nanuet, NY, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 102. Born on June 6, 1922, to Alfred Rossi and Mary (nee Grando), Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose energy, warmth, and independent spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter Truffa, with whom she co-owned and operated Farmer Jones, Inc. Garden Center in Chestnut Ridge, NY, for many years. Together, they built a thriving business that became a cornerstone of the community, known for its charm and the personal touch that Marie brought to every customer and interaction.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Truffa and his wife Cathy, and Raymond Truffa and his wife Elisabeth; her grandchildren, Peter and Scott Truffa, Jaclyn Yager, Melissa, Jessica, and Tracy; eight great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Marie was known for her perfectionism, an excellent cook, a talented seamstress, and a wonderful gardener. She had a deep love for birds and bird watching, which brought her great joy throughout her life. Always the social butterfly, Marie was a vibrant presence in any room and built lasting relationships wherever she went. Her independent nature and dedication to her family were central to her identity, and she was loved and admired for her boundless energy and warmth.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org, in memory of her beloved husband, Peter, in recognition of his courageous battle with the disease in his later years.

Marie’s legacy of love, strength, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
