

Mario was born on November 25, 1939 in Castel Frentano, Italy to the late Antonio and Mary (Yocca) Scaglione. He was precedeased by his brothers James and Ralph, and sister Assunta.
Born at home in Castel Frentano, Abruzzi, his early life in Italy was formative. He was always telling stories of life on the farm, their rituals and traditions. He moved to New York at the age of 14, quickly learning english and being welcomed by his extended family in New York and in Windber, PA.
He was married for 47 years to Rose, his soul mate. Loving husband, proud father to Joseph and John, and dedicated Pop-Pop to four grandchildren: Samantha, Vincent, Levi, and Rowan. He lived his life in service of others. Always he gave of himself to those he loved. You knew he would always be there to lend a hand or give advice. His life was dedicated to his family.
He was always working with his hands, and was proud of his work. He was always able to fix anything, and passed on his knowledge and skills to his sons. He loved his plants, was an avid gardener, and was constantly taking cuttings of olive, fig, and lemon trees to plant and nurture at home.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at the WANAMAKER & CARLOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, April 1st at Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY. Entombment of Ashes will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
