Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary Jane (Lillis) Quinn, both of Co. Clare, Ireland, her brother, Thomas J. Quinn, and her husband, John M. Freeley.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Theresa Freeley and her two beloved Miniature Schnauzers.
Maureen was a graduate of St. Simon Stock School and St. Barnabas High School, both in the Bronx, NY. She worked for General Motors until the birth of her daughter. She later returned to work for Western Union and retired from AT&T.
Maureen always felt a strong connection to her Irish roots and had a great love of Irish music. She looked forward to trips to the casinos with her “sister by choice”, Carolyn Lynch. In her last years, she realized her lifelong dream of owning her own house.
She was a fierce advocate for anyone in need, whether it be family, friend, neighbor or co-worker. Maureen “adopted” many of her daughter’s friends as if they were her own. As long as you were good to Mary Theresa, she loved you.
Maureen will be remembered fondly for her quick wit and unconditional love. She will be sorely missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org) or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org) would be much appreciated.
