

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael D D’Avanzo, age 72. Michael resided in Tuxedo, New York and passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025. Michael was born on June 19, 1953 in Suffern, New York to Arthur and Joyce D’Avanzo. He attended Suffern High School and Rochester Institute of Technology.
Michael leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Deborah D’Avanzo, along with his daughters Kristen and Kerri, who shared an unbreakable bond with him. They will forever cherish his memory, and carry his love in their hearts. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Monroe, Michael and Max who were his pride and joy, and called him Pop Pop. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce D’Avanzo, his younger sister, Beth Suero, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, his sister-in-law Barbara Mitchell, and his brother-in-laws, Michael Tiagwad, Neil Suero and Jim Mitchell. Michael also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, who will remember him as more than an uncle- he was a constant support along with love, laughter and guidance. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur D’Avanzo and his sister, Debra Tiagwad.
Michael will be remembered by his kind and loving ways, and his contagious smile. Friends and family alike would say he was one of a kind-simply the best. Michael was an athlete through all stages of life, during his school years he played football, baseball and wrestled. He carried his love of sports into adulthood and enjoyed golfing, skiing, snowmobiling and boating. He took pride in caring for his lifetime home in Tuxedo, NY where he built beautiful memories. He loved the New York Jets and the New York Mets! Michael also had an incredible passion for music. He was admired for his voice-full of warmth and sounding just like Elvis Presley.
Michael was a dedicated lifetime Rotarian, where he worked to strengthen the community through service, while building lifetime friendships, integrity and providing service.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral mass that will be held on Monday, October 27 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 129 Lafayette Avenue, Suffern New York.
