Pierre Laurenceau entered eternal rest on July 8, 2026, at the age of 65.
A beloved son, father, brother, uncle, mentor, proud brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., educator, respected basketball and volleyball official, executive protection and VIP security professional, and cherished friend. Pierre was a loving, powerful and committed leader. He lived a life marked by integrity, humility, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, students, clients, athletes, and community. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he encouraged, mentored, and inspired.
A devoted Catholic Christian, Pierre’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He faithfully began each day in prayer to God in Jesus name, embraced daily spiritual practices, and remained active in his church community. His faith was reflected in the way he lived, serving others with love, intention, humility, compassion, integrity, and presence.
Pierre’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted and deeply loving father to his daughter, Brianna, and his son, Daniel, and a proud, doting grandfather to his beloved grandson, Julian. He was also a loving brother, uncle, nephew, Godson, and friend who cherished time with his family and held a special place in his heart for children. Those closest to him knew that his love for his family, children, and community was the foundation of everything he did.
For nearly 35 years, Pierre devoted his life to serving children, families, and communities through education, mentorship, and youth development. Through his work with Greenburgh-Graham Union Free School District, Leake & Watts, and Harlem Children’s Zone, he became a trusted educator, mentor, role model, and advocate for countless young people. He believed in meeting students where they were, encouraging them to recognize their potential. He helped them build confidence, character, and hope for the present, and their future. His influence reached far beyond the classroom, leaving an enduring impact on generations of students, colleagues, and families.
For more than 23 years, Pierre served as an NCAA Division I basketball official. He was a highly respected and decorated New York and New Jersey high school basketball official. His fairness, professionalism, and commitment to the game earned him the admiration of coaches, players, fellow officials, and the communities he served.
Passionate about developing the next generation of officials, Pierre founded “Elevated Officials”. This is an organization dedicated to educating, mentoring, and inspiring aspiring and current sports officials to lead with excellence, professionalism, integrity, and respect for the game. Through this work, he continued his lifelong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and helping others grow both on and off the court.
Beginning in the early 1990s, Pierre established himself as a respected leader in executive protection and VIP event security. He worked at many of the East Coast’s premier entertainment venues, including The Paradise Garage, The Tunnel, The Supper Club, Club Exit, and numerous others. Known for his professionalism, sound judgment, and leadership, he was entrusted with providing personal security for top A-list recording artists and public figures, while leading security teams for major entertainment events and productions throughout the United States and internationally.
Pierre was also a member of the Momentum Education community, having completed both the Basic and Advanced workshops. He valued the lifelong friendships, personal growth, and leadership principles that became an important part of his journey.
Whether showing up for his family, his community, or mentoring young people, officiating on the court, or ensuring the safety of others, Pierre earned the respect and trust of everyone whose lives he touched. His character, integrity, and quiet strength defined every chapter of his life.
