

Born on March 19, 1937, in Queens NY, Raymond was the eldest of five children. He is predeceased by his brother Philip, and survived by his sisters Carol (Vinny) and Cathy (Joe), his brother Stephen (Jackie), and sister-in-law Lois.
In 1958, while working in the same building, Ray met the love of his life, Geraldine “Gerry” Kane, who was employed with AT&T. The two began dating and were married on September 16, 1961. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family and faith. They welcomed their first daughter, Veronica, in 1962, and in 1964 their son, Raymond William, he only lived for a few days but remained forever cherished in their hearts. In 1965, Ray and Gerry moved to Ramapo, where they welcomed their youngest daughter, Maureen, in 1968. The couple shared more than 50 years of marriage, celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2011.
Raymond was a proud graduate of City College, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering, and later completed studies in Marketing at Iona College. His professional career spanned numerous roles in telecommunications, excelling in sales, management, and account services. His leadership and dedication also extended into public service, where he served as Mayor of Airmont Village. Beyond his professional and public service accomplishments, Raymond was a man of varied interests. He enjoyed reading, walking, and canoeing, but his true passion was hiking. He devoted much of his time to exploring local parks and was actively involved in trail maintenance, reflecting his deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors.
Ray and Gerry treasured their time together and enjoyed spending half the year in their home in The Villages Florida, until Gerry’s passing in May 2014.
Raymond will be deeply missed by his daughters, Veronica Kane and Maureen Stillo (Peter), and his beloved grandchildren Caitlin, Francis, and Emilia, who brought him endless joy.
Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY, on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
Raymond’s legacy of love, devotion, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
