Robert A. Meunier

Robert Allen Meunier, affectionately known as “Moose,” passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 80. A native of Spring Valley, New York, Robert lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to education, a passion for sports, and deep devotion to his family.

Robert graduated from Spring Valley High School before continuing his education at Rockland Community College, where he earned his associate’s degree. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Brockport and later a Master of Science from SUNY Albany, achievements that reflected his commitment to learning and personal growth.

He devoted much of his professional life to teaching Business and Social Studies at North Rockland High School in Stony Point, New York, where he influenced generations of students with his knowledge, humor, and strong character. In addition to teaching, Robert was a dedicated football coach, sharing his love of the game with student-athletes at Ramapo High School and Clarkstown North High School.

Robert was a proud member of the Fred Eller American Legion Post 1447 and the Haverstraw Elks Lodge No. 877, where he formed lasting friendships and remained active in his community.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Suzanna (Risko) Meunier and William Meunier; his siblings Annette, William Jr., and Joseph Meunier; and his nephews Joseph Jr. and Joseph III Meunier.

Robert is survived by his sisters-in-law, Diana and Karen Meunier, and his cherished nieces and nephews: Suzanne and Liam, Jennifer and Darren, Gina, Riley and Miller, William III and Dylan, and Jordan. He adored his family deeply and took great pride in their lives and accomplishments.

Known for his larger-than-life personality, Robert was both funny and grumpy in equal measure—a combination that endeared him to all who knew him. Beneath his gruff exterior was a generous and caring man who would do anything for those he loved. He had an enduring passion for anything sports-related and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Jets.

Robert “Moose” Meunier leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former students, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visiting will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 2-6 pm at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. A Family and Friends Gathering will take place from 9:45 am to 10:45 am also at the funeral home with a Graveside Service to follow at Airmont Coptic Orthodox Cemetery in Airmont, NY at 11:00 am.
