

White, Ronald J. of Montebello, NY, formally of Astoria, NY went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2011, with his family by his side at age 79 after a valiant battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and MDS. Born May 1, 1931 in Spring Lake, NJ to John Wesley and Catherine (McCarney) White. He lived on 77th Street in Astoria for almost 50 years. Ronald proudly served with the Army in the 2nd Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was a hardworking man, retiring from the teamsters Union Local 707, in 1993 after 34 years of service. Ronald will be remembered as a kind loving man helping anyone in need. He was a generous host, who enjoyed being with his family, going to restaurants, and cracking jokes. He was also a horse racing enthusiast. Ronald was devoted to his family and served as an example of how to treat others. Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Catherine (nee Miller), loving son and best friend Stephen White (wife Erika), loving son Robert Daniels (wife Terri) ,cherished grandchildren Lily and Jacob Daniels, caring sister Jeneinne Sheffield, his “special companion” Peanut, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings John Wesley “Jack” White, Gloria Lightfoot and Arlene White. Visitation Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral Mass Thursday 11am at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern followed by an interment at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
