Ryan Thomas O’Donnell, 13, of Suffern, NY passed away on October 16, 2020. Ryan was born to Thomas O’Donnell and Kimberly Johnson on May 14, 2007 in Morristown, NJ.

Ryan’s greatest passion in life outside of his family was video games. He could be heard throughout the house laughing and carrying on with his friends. He would have played video games 24 hours a day if he didn’t have to eat and sleep. When he wasn’t gaming, Ryan would be having epic Nerf battles, building forts, watching Marvel movies on movie nights, and learning more about space and our universe. You could tell when Ryan took a break from the destruction because there would be a trail of peanut butter and jelly leading from the kitchen straight to his face. He was easy to find, just follow the trail of empty water bottles he loved to leave for us. Ryan’s down time would have him snuggling and caring for his pets, Barley his dog, and Ezio his cat. Ryan was an outstanding student at Suffern Middle School and often achieved honor roll. He was active on the wrestling team and enjoyed robotics. Digital Music was one of Ryan’s favorite creative outlets.

Ryan is survived by his father Thomas O’Donnell, his mother Kimberly Johnson, and stepmother Jennifer O’Donnell; siblings Calvin Smith, Samantha Schelling, and Jessica Schelling; paternal grandmother Lorraine O’Donnell; maternal grandfather Kenneth Johnson; aunts and uncles Chuck O’Donnell (Kelly), Cathy Tocci (Chris), Chris Johnson (Carly), Shawn Patane, John Kwap (Heather), and Jason Kwap (Cathy); and many cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Martin O’Donnell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 3-8pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. Committal is private.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ryan’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, http://www.stjude.org

Hello, My name is Joseph Russo. Had I ever known Ryan was to pass, I would've liked one last conversation with him. We would always play Xbox. We played games such as Terraria and Tom Clancy's Rainbow six siege. I knew Ryan for most of my life and when he moved away, I still kept in contact with him. As soon as I knew he was on Xbox i added him. Me him in Tyler were all homies. We trusted each other and we wouldn't let each other down. I wanted to grow older and crack a cold one with the boys. I miss Ryan. I don't know how you do it as a mother. It must be very hard. I thank you for telling me. Because now I have closure. I hope he's in a place, Where nothing bad could ever ever happen. We all miss you Ryan.

Even though I met you only once little Ryan, I could tell you were a very smart and special little boy and full of energy and smiles that couldn’t be beat. Your leaving this earth way too soon is leaving a lot of loved ones with broken hearts. May God guide and protect you where you are, but know that you are still here with us living through others. Love from our family, the Rotberg-Johnsons.

l remember Ryan when he was young. He was the smartest 2 year old I ever saw.
He loved his grandpa and his dad & his mom.
When getting older, he was still so smart and was so cute.

I will miss his smile. Wish I saw it more often.

My thoughts go out to Kim, Tom and my brother Ken. No one loved him more.

May you gain strength at one point, know he was loved by many, including his two aunts Linda and Trish.

Please hold his smile and his love in your hearts forever.
Love you sweet young Ryan,
Aunt Karen🙏💋💕❤️🙏🙏
