Sonja V Polizzano

Born in Manhattan, New York, Sonja was raised in the Bronx, where she grew up with three brothers and two sisters in a lively and close-knit household. Those early years helped shape the warmth, strength, and devotion that would define her throughout her life. She carried with her the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness, and she shared those gifts generously with everyone who knew her.

Sonja met the love of her life in first grade, beginning a story that would span a lifetime. She and Robert were married on September 19, 1964, and shared 62 devoted years together. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, respect, and enduring companionship. Together they created a beautiful family.

In 1973, Sonja and Robert moved to Suffern, New York, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in love and togetherness. Sonja took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and she found joy in the everyday moments that made family life so meaningful.

In 2004, Sonja and Robert retired to Galloway, New Jersey, where she embraced a new chapter of life with the same spirit and enthusiasm that had guided her through the years. She loved to play Bocce, travel, and try her luck at the slots, enjoying the pleasures of retirement and the company of those around her. She appreciated good times, shared laughter, and the happiness found in being with the people she loved most.

Sonja is survived by her husband, Robert; her son Robert and his wife Suzanne; her son Marc and his wife Jennifer; and her beloved grandchildren, Brielle and Mason. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Harve and Viola Harve.

Sonja will be remembered for her loving heart, her thoughtful spirit, and the deep devotion she showed to her family throughout her life. She leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close by all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th from 2-5pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY 10901.
