

Soren Uleberg 89 of Monroe, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2021. He was born in Hornnes, Norway on July 8,1931. His parents were John and Anna (Lee) Uleberg. His siblings were Toroborg, Anna, and Ola. He served one year in the Norwegian Army and then worked on a whaling ship in the South Antarctic Ocean. He also sailed with the Merchant Marines and worked as a truck driver in Norway. He moved to the United States in 1960 by boat and settled first in Brooklyn, NY. There, he met and married his beautiful wife Marilyn Pedersen on December 4, 1964 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. He later moved to Rockland County where he built his own house. He also spent 25 years living in Toms River, NJ by the beach before he moved to Monroe, NY to be closer to his family. In the U.S. he worked as a carpenter and builder before starting their own company Somar Construction. Soren was a proud and active member of the Sons of Norway.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn and many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Norway. Kurt Pedersen and wife Debbie, Erik Pedersen, Leif Pedersen and wife Tracy, Barbara Hanson, Richard Hanson, Peter Hanson, John Uleberg and wife Angela, Steven Uleberg and wife Christine, Keith Nicholson and wife Karen, George Barrass and wife Veronica, Paul Barrass, Jon Arvid and wife Siri, Torlief and wife Brit, Nils and wife Merete, Anna Sigrid and husband Tore, Dag and wife Marit, Cindy and husband Helge, Scott and wife Gunn Emma. Soren had many good friends that he loved and always talked about fondly. He was a kind and giving man that always had a smile on his face. Soren will be greatly missed by his wife Marilyn, family, friends, and everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Rest in Heaven.
