Born on January 21, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, Susan was the daughter of Irving and Goldie Kaplan. Exceptionally bright, she graduated from high school early and launched a successful career at a law firm in Manhattan, where her intelligence and work ethic stood out.
Susan was a devoted mother who poured her heart into raising her three children who were always her priority. She tackled life’s challenges head-on with unmatched strength, determination, and a no-nonsense attitude. She got things done—plain and simple.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kristina and Nicholas Russo, who brought her endless joy. Known for her quick wit and sharp mind, Susan found fun in the things she loved most: card games like poker and canasta, her favorite TV judge—Judge Judy—and the lively world of game shows. She had a bold sense of style, with leopard print becoming her personal signature in both fashion and home decor.
Susan is predeceased by her loving sister, Anita Burstein, whose memory she cherished deeply.
Susan is survived by daughter Debra Russo and Rocco, daughter Denise Conti and Sean, and son Guy Conti and family. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and strength. Her presence will be missed dearly, but her spirit—fierce, fun, and unapologetically authentic—will live on in those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held by the family from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, located in Suffern, NY.
