
Born on September 13, 1947, in Altoona, Tom was the son of the late Thomas W. Murphy and Margaret Ickes Murphy.
Tom retired as a foreman for the Sullivan County Department of Public Works, where he was respected for his dedication and hard work throughout his career.
He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Pamela Neumann Murphy; his son, Kevin P. Murphy and his wife Melissa of Youngsville; and his daughter, Kim Marie Murphy of Callicoon.
Tom was a proud grandfather to Christopher Murphy and his wife Louise of Buffalo, and Adam Murphy of Rochester.
He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Bettwy of Altoona and Doti Balenger of Bokeelia; his brothers, Jerry Murphy and his wife Betsy of Damascus and John Murphy and his wife Ronny of Callicoon; his sister-in-law, Ellen Neumann of Liberty; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Theda and Logan Prough of Altoona, and his brothers-in-law, Eugene Bettwy of Altoona and Eric Neumann of Liberty.
Per Tom’s wishes, there will be no services.
Memorial contributions in Tom’s name may be made to the Upper Delaware Ambulance Corps, the Callicoon Volunteer Fire Department, or the H. Russell Kenyon VFW Post 5808.
