Valorey J. Cassidy

Valorey Cassidy, 82, died on January 23, 2025, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Becky; her brother, George, and his partner, Maureen; her nephew, Ryan; her cousins John, Norma, and Ricci; and many nieces and nephews.

Valorey was born in Torrington, CT, to Livio and Pauline Riccucci and grew up surrounded by a large, close-knit family. She attended the University of Connecticut, where she met John. Later, they moved to New York, where she graduated from Columbia University.

For 27 years, Valorey was a beloved English teacher at Clarkstown South High School. She loved teaching, and her students loved her in return.

She was also passionate about traveling. She and John traveled the world together, creating lasting memories. Valorey also cherished her cats, dogs, reading, and tending to her garden. She will be missed.

Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home from 9 - 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 1st. Funeral service will follow the visitation, beginning at 10:30 AM, also at Wanamaker & Carlough. Burial to follow at Airmont Coptic Orthodox Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
