Veronica A. Paul

Veronica Ann Paul (née Crowley), age 78, passed away on Friday, November 1st, 2019.
Veronica was born on January 25th, 1941 in Staten Island, NY to Timothy and Beatrice (Garvin) Crowley. She attended St. Sylvester elementary school, and then high school at St. John Villa Academy.
She married Michael Charles Paul on June 30th, 1962, and gave birth to six children. The family moved to Chestnut Ridge, NY in 1976. After raising her children, she earned her degree in literature from Rockland Community College.
Veronica was an active member of St. Anthony's parish and then the Church of the Presentation. She served in the Presentation Church Choir, Harlem Soup Kitchen, and the Peace and Justice Ministry. A strong supporter of environmental conservation, she organized activities for the Earth Day festival at Bear Mountain State Park.
In 2010, she suffered a stroke from which she never recovered. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She will be missed for her kindness, patience, and empathy for others.
Veronica is survived by her husband Michael of 57 years, four children, Michael (Ping), Mark (Djamila), Susan, and Matthew (Laura Arribas-Tomé); two grandchildren, Noelle and Maxwell; three siblings, Albert Crowley, Mary Crowley, and Barbara Foley; and many nieces and nephews. Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John, Kathleen, and Eileen; and children, Aileen and Christopher.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 10:00 am at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W Saddle River Rd, Upper Saddle River, NJ. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Monsey, NY. All are welcome to remember her at the wake on Friday, November 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY. Aunt Ronnie was devoted to her family and welcoming to all relatives and friends. She was open to trying new things and pushed herself to go to college after raising her family and pursue athletics. She was an outstanding caregiver to son Christopher, who had cystic fibrosis. Her numerous contributions are remembered.
