

He is survived by his children, Anjali, Simran, and Kamran Merhai, who were the center of his world. His spirit will forever be intertwined with that of Nadia Merhai, the mother of his children. Vidjay is also survived by his mother, Kowsilla Merhai Badloe; his eldest brother, Adjai Merhai, and his sons, Jaydon and Ashar; his sister, Lakshmi Merhai, and her son, Ishan; and his younger brother, Sanjay Merhai, and his daughter, Azurah. He is reunited in eternal peace with his father, Rabindernath Merhai.
Vidjay was a beacon of joy and generosity, always striving to uplift those around him. He approached life with a tireless work ethic, and his passion for music, as a DJ and promoter, was a defining element of his spirit. His bond with his family was unparalleled, and he maintained a devoted parenting partnership with Nadia, built on a foundation of mutual respect and friendship. His children, Anjali, Simran, and Kamran, were his pride and joy. He held his mother close, speaking with her daily, and he deeply valued the adventurous spirit he shared with his sister. Together, they embarked on adult life adventures, with Vidjay embracing the opportunities of America and his sister finding her home in Holland. He encouraged his brothers to maintain their close bond, always prioritizing family.
He leaves behind a circle of dear friends and family who will forever remember his warmth and kindness. Among them, he held his cousin Patsi Ganga (Didi) and her children, Vishal and his wife Wanita, close to his heart, as well as his nephew Chres and his young family. His lifelong friends, Eva and Wouter, will forever cherish the memories they shared.
Vidjay's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 7-9 pm at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. Funeral Services will take place at the same location on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 9-10:30 am. Cremation Services will be held following the funeral services at Garden State Crematory, 4101 Kennedy Blvd., North Bergen, NJ at 11:30 am.
