My mom, Yvette, Eve, Mom, Nana, is finally at peace. She chose how she wanted to leave this earth and she died a beautiful death according to her wishes. She is now in the universe and with all of us all the time.
She was an amazing woman who was always ahead of her time. Mom knew how to live life to the fullest and bring excitement to all she spent time with. Unfortunately, she also had the misfortune of having a mental illness that brought her to the darkest of places and caused sorrow to all around her.
Mom was so talented and brought her creativity to many things. She made mosaic tile tables when her kids were young. She made a home that was so beautiful and warm. Man, she could cook too. Some of her other talents also inspired me. She played the piano as well as teaching piano students. I loved listening to her practice.
Eve also opened a creative plant shop called The Plant Lady where she sold plants and antiques and helped others with diseased or sick plants. Her work was reviewed in many periodicals including the NY Times.
Mom went back to school in her late 50's to become a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. She built a practice and helped many with putting their lives back together.
Mom lived a long life and outlived many of her closest friends and relatives. She lived to see some of her grandchildren finish college, marry and give her great grandchildren. She was ready to end her final chapter, so while I mourn for her, I am happy she is finally free and at peace.
I already miss her so much. But I know she is always with me.
