Herbert Palmer of Emerald Isle, NC often called “Buddy or Bud” by his family and friends passed away on Friday, February 24th at the age of 89.
Bud was born November 16, 1933, in Chicago, IL, the 2nd eldest of 5 children. As a young man he enlisted in the United States Army where he met his wife, Myrtle, while serving in the 82nd airborne Fort Bragg, NC. Their romance lasted 66 years and was blessed with one daughter, Candice.
He lived vicariously through his daughter, teaching her about his love of impressionistic art, drawing and music. He attended classes at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and later went on to work as a mold maker at Tootsie Toy. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he proudly and often mentioned. Bud had a strong faith and relationship with the Lord. He loved to read the Bible and share his faith with others.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.
Bud loved his family and will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife Myrtle and daughter Candice Palmer.
A small service will occur on Saturday, March 4th at 11am at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk, VA.
