Adolph M Bartolo, age 89, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018. Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born on April 12, 1929 in Cairo, Egypt and was the son of Edgar Charles and Emma Bartolo. Al departed Cairo in 1947 to attend college at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. Upon graduation from LSU in 1950, Al married the love of his life, Joycelyn Bergeron from White Castle, Louisiana. Bartolo took his first job with Southdown Refinery in Houma, Louisiana, and in 1953 he joined Imperial Sugar Corporation in Sugar Land, Texas. Bartolo held several positions with Imperial Sugar including Plant Manager in 1965, Vice President of Refinery Operations in 1969, elected to the Board of Directors of Imperial Sugar 1970, Executive Vice President of Operations in 1970, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer 1981. At the time of Bartolo’s retirement in 1994, he held the position of President and CEO of Imperial Holly Corporation. Al’s hobbies included travel, reading, time with his family at Lake Livingston as well as family trips. He is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Emma Bartolo and his wife, Joycelyn Mary Bartolo. He is survived by his sister, Yvette Ayoub, of Los Angeles, California, daughter Pam McCoy and husband Alan of Austin, Texas, son Edgar Bartolo and wife Debbie of New Braunfels, Texas, daughter Jan Andrews and husband Gary of Richmond, Texas, and daughter Betsy Crockett and husband Greg of Richmond, Texas. Al is also survived by grandchildren; Michael Court and wife Gretchen of Heber City, Utah, Sean Court and wife Amy of Houston, Texas, Misti Bartolo of Austin, Texas, Ryan Bartolo and wife Melinda of Austin, Texas, Dustin Bartolo and wife Savanna of McQueeney, Texas, Brett Andrews and wife Stephanie of Sugar Land, Texas, Alyssa Andrews of Richmond, Texas, Brandon Crockett and fiancé Laura Thomas of Sugar Land, Texas, and Taylor Sirchia and husband Kevin of Dallas, Texas, along with fifteen great grandchildren.
Al and Joy’s greatest love and source of pride was their family. Our family will continue to honor Nana and Pop with the many traditions they set forth.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 12, 2018 followed by The Rosary at The Settegast Funeral Home at Sugar Creek, Sugar Land, TX from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
A celebration of life Mass will be held at St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Sugar Land on Thursday December 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with a private family burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Child Advocates of Fort Bend County, East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, or charity of choice.
