

Aleksandr Finkelshteyn was born on April 18, 1956, in Kirov, Russia, where he lived until 1995 before immigrating to the USA. His parents were military medical doctors who served in both World War I and World War II. Aleksandr was the fourth of four boys. After serving two years in the Russian Army, he attended Moscow University, where he earned a degree as an orthopedic surgeon.
Following his graduation, Aleksandr began a distinguished career as an orthopedic surgeon in Penza, Russia. Aleksandr worked as a surgical assistant at Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Medical Center, since 1997. He resided in Sugar Land, Texas, until his last days.
Aleksandr was married to Irina Strok, whom he met in Moscow. They were wed on August 22, 1981, in Penza, Russia. He was a devoted family man and considered his three older brothers to be his best friends. His most cherished life events included becoming a surgeon, the birth of his two daughters, and moving to the United States.
Aleksandr was known for his kind nature, great sense of humor, sociability, hard work, and his lovable "big teddy bear" persona. He enjoyed solving Russian crossword puzzles, scratching lottery tickets, watching the Texans play football, and savoring good company.
Aleksandr is survived by his wife, Irina Strok, residing in Sugar Land, Texas; his oldest daughter, Anya Henkhaus, of Missouri City, Texas; and his youngest daughter, Olga Finkelshteyn, of Austin, Texas.
Aleksandr Finkelshteyn passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 69. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
