

Ann Marie Ross, 70, of Houston, Texas died of complications from Myelodysplastic Syndrome on Monday the 31st of January 2022. Ann Marie was born on the 12th of March 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Captain John William Richards, Sr. and Dorothy Wininger Richards of Gretna, Louisiana. Beloved wife of William Fitts Ross, they enjoyed 51 years of matrimony. Loving mother to Kingsley Ross Andrews and Barrett Jason Ross. Loving guardian to John William Richards, III. Mother-in-law to Mark Peter Andrews and Edyta K. Ross. Sister of Catherine Mary Richards Orgeron, and the late John W. Richards, Jr. Loving grandmother to Isolde Marie Andrews, Carys Christine Andrews, and Lleyton Mark Andrews. Born in New Orleans and raised in Gretna, Louisiana, Ann Marie met the love of her life shortly after graduating high school and began her life as a family manager supporting her husband’s Oil & Gas career.
After marriage and starting a family, Ann Marie and her beloved Bill, along with their first born, Kingsley, moved to Houston, Texas in 1974- a city which she would call home for nearly five decades. While Houston served as a home base, Ann Marie and Bill had many overseas assignments that would see them call places as varied as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and London, England home. During these overseas assignments Ann Marie displayed her typical zeal for life while pursuing her many passions which included tennis, golf and Bridge. She would eventually earn the distinction of being a Life Master in Bridge. During her first stint in Malaysia, she was extremely active in supporting her children and nephew’s various school activities at the International School of Kuala Lumpur. Through it all, Ann Marie’s characteristic effervescence and deep personal warmth shone through and touched many lives. She was a devoted grandmother and took great joy in actively doting on her grandchildren. She volunteered in the past with Catholic Charities and was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, Texas.
She had a joyous spirit, an infectious smile and collected many friends throughout her globe-trotting life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral mass is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 5th of March 2022, at Saint Cletus Catholic Church in Gretna, Louisiana. Family visitation will commence at ten o’clock in the morning. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as preferred charities.
