

ARTHUR (ART) R. ROY, JR., died of natural causes at the age of 85, in Houston, TX, on November 24, 2013. He was born February 8, 1928, in Westfield, NJ, to Arthur R. Roy, Sr. and Anne Riley Roy. In 1950, Joyce Doyle Murphy became his bride, and together they raised five children: Jeffery, Christi Ann, Karen, Michael and Arthur III (Terry). Art attended Bordentown Military Institute, and then served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from the Korean War period until 1963. He was a proud Navy pilot, eventually earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander. A member of the Amherst College class of 1950, he gave generously to his alma mater and attended as many reunions as time permitted. His business career started at Standard Oil, and then he spent the rest of his working life in the banking industry. He was first employed by the Irving Trust Company at the prestigious address of One Wall Street, New York, NY.
The final stop in his successful career was with the government-owned Resolution Trust Corporation, managing the asset liquidation of numerous failed banks during the S&L crisis of the 90's. An avid golfer who loved a day at the links, he became a faithful supporter of the University of Miami football team during the many years he resided in
South Florida.
Art is survived by Jeffery Roy and spouse Donna, Karen Roy Vissage, Michael Roy, and Arthur Roy III (Terry) and spouse Sharon. He leaves behind grandchildren, Sammy, Nikki, Linnie, Gavin, Melanie, Danielle, and Christina.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christi Ann; parents, Arthur Sr. and Anne; sister, Harriet Holland; and former wife and mother of his children, Joyce Murphy Roy.
