Bernard "Corey" Moore

Bernard “Corey” Moore was born on July 27, 1972, in Martinsville, Virginia. At an early age, Corey moved with his parents to Texas, where he was raised and where the foundation of his life, character, and memories began to take shape. He built a life marked by purpose, presence, and love. Corey will be remembered for his calm spirit, his steady presence, and the quiet strength with which he carried himself. He loved football, track, bodybuilding, and the simple joys that made him uniquely Corey. Those who knew him will remember his distinct laugh, his mild-mannered tone, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those who loved him.

Corey attended Alief Hastings High School from 1986 to 1990, where he excelled in both football and track. His natural athletic talent, quiet confidence, and determination were evident early in life. After high school, Corey continued his education at Lamar University, where he studied from 1990 to 1996 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Those years helped shape the creative, thoughtful, and quietly determined man Corey would become. On November 5, 1993, Corey pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., becoming part of a brotherhood rooted in service, scholarship, and brotherly love. His bond with his fraternity remained a meaningful part of his life and identity.

Corey began his professional career with A&E/Thomas Printworks, where he worked from 1999 to 2015. He also served as Manager at Parkview Psychological Services from 2009 to 2012. Continuing his commitment to leadership and service, Corey earned a Long-Term Care Administration Advanced Technical Certificate from San Jacinto College in 2015 and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator that same year. From 2015 to 2026, Corey served as a Nursing Home Administrator and Executive Director in communities across Texas, including Lubbock, Abilene, El Paso, Webster, and Spring. In these roles, he led with steadiness, professionalism, and care. He supported staff, guided long-term care operations, and served residents and families with compassion, responsibility, and genuine concern for others. His work reflected not only his leadership, but also his heart for service and his ability to be present when others needed him.

Corey departed this life on June 25, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Naomi Drew Moore; his wife and devoted life partner, Angel R. Tate-Moore; his mother, Virginia Delores Butler; his father, Collier Eugene “Gene” Butler; his sisters, Cokeydo D. Butler and Sheba; his aunt, Gwendolyn Moore; his cousin, Tammy Terrell Moore; his childhood friends and lifelong brothers, James Polnac, Heath Nevels, Robert “RD” Sumpter, and Corey Jones; his Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity brothers; and a host of family members, friends, classmates, colleagues, and loved ones who were blessed to know him.

Corey’s life was one of strength, creativity, service, love, and quiet impact. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May the love Corey gave, the laughter he shared, and the quiet strength he carried remain with us always.
