

He was born in Devers, Texas, on December 16, 1928, and afterwards his family settled in New Orleans, LA. Billy served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. in World War II and in the Korean War. He graduated from Tulane University in 1955, with a B.A. in Physical Education. Billy was a teacher and coach in Terrebonne Parish in Houma, LA, for fifteen years. He was also a "Distinguished Salesman" for American Family Life Assurance Co. Billy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling, golf, and billiards with his family and friends through the years. He was a wonderful grandfather and was very proud of all ten of them. Billy lived in Houma, LA for over thirty-years, and was a resident of Sugar Land, TX for the past fourteen years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Inez McDonald Brown; and his sisters, Nell Rose Trosclair, Patty Theriot, and Gloria Gordon.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Shirley "Lois" Michel Brown; children, Susan Brown Brock and her husband Curtis J. Brock, Billy LaMarr Brown, Jr. and his wife Tammy Baio Brown, Lawrence Milton Brown and his wife Shelley Clements Brown, Bonnie Brown Pennison and her husband Jay L. Pennison, Sr., and Annette Brown Murray and her husband Ronald P. Murray; grandchildren, Tiffiny Pennison, Dustin Brown, Ryan Brown, Jay Pennison, Jr., Brooke Cole, Milicent Bolin, Sean Brown, Matthew Brock, Nikki Murray, and Emma Brown; and sisters, Mickey Brown Nelson, and Terry Lynn Brown Ely and her husband Perry Ely.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in the Morrow Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit), with a visitation with the family beginning prior to the service at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in Billy's name be made to the Houston and Southeast Texas Alzheimer's Foundation, 2242 West Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77030-2008, 713-314-1313.
