He became a lifetime member of the Texas Exes, The University of Texas Alumni Association. Blaine was always a huge sports fan, especially for his favorite team, The Texas Longhorns.

As Granddaughter Courtney Esmond said, "Every hand in Heaven had their horns raised high this morning as the greatest Longhorn I have ever known walked again on his own through the gates of Heaven."
