

Brian Malcom Teykl , age 55, of Sugar Land, joined his Heavenly Father on April 2, 2017, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was born January 17, 1962, in Winnie, Texas to Shirley and Marion Teykl. Brian grew up in Needville, Texas and was a proud Needville HS Fighting Blue Jay where he graduated in 1980. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Houston where he played football under Coach Bill Yeoman. Once he became a Cougar in 1980, he has been a steadfast supporter of all things red and loves his University of Houston Cougars.
Brian married Tibby Harris, from Houston, in 1989. Shortly after they married, they moved to Sugar Land, started a family and enjoyed life with their two sons, Trevor and Connor. Brian was a sales manager at Roadrunner Moving and Storage for the last 19 years. Roadrunner was his second home and second family. He enjoyed going to work each day, being a part of the company, and looking for the next deal. Each day he would do it with love in his heart and a smile on his face. Some of Brian’s accolades included playing in the last Cotton Bowl game for the University of Houston in 1985, being president of the University of Houston H Association in 2017, being inducted into the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association Hall of Honor receiving the John Kelley Distinguished Service Award in 2008, being president of Riverbend Country Club in 2016, coaching many sports teams for his sons, and being a loving husband and father.
Brian is survived by his wife Tibby Harris Teykl; son Trevor Teykl and his wife Kyle of Houston; son Connor Teykl and fiancé Kelli Valdez of Sugar Land; his parents, Marion and Shirley Teykl of Needville; his mother-in-law, Patsy Harris of Sugar Land; brother Tim Teykl and his wife Brenda of Rosenberg; brother Craig Teykl and his wife Connie of Austin; sister LaShel Rowton and her husband David of Alvin; brother-in-law Jay Harris and his wife Connie; brother-in-law Jim Harris and his wife Ursula; his nieces and nephews whom he loved so very much – Tory, Tyler, Shannon, Cassie, Ryan, Ashley, Jamie, Kendall, Koby, KK, Austin, Adam, Allie, Jonathan, Marcus, Sienna; and his newborn great niece, Kennedy. Brian was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Louis Harris; paternal grandparents, August and Lillie Teykl; and maternal grandparents, Emanuel and Hilda Mladenka.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Settegast Kopf, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land 77478 with a Rosary beginning at 7:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land 77479. The burial will immediately follow at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg 77471.
