

Carl William Driever, 87, of Houston, Texas, died October 11, 2025 in Houston, Texas. He was born on March 4, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Myra and Carl Driever. Carl attended Purdue University for both undergraduate and graduate school and graduated with a PhD in Pharmacology. He married Dorothy Suzanne (Sue) Haslanger on June 6, 1964 and together they raised 2 children, Debbi and Scott.
Carl spent his career of over 30 years as a professor teaching Pharmacology at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. He had a particular interest in gerontology and helped develop pharmacy school educational programs at the VA hospital, Ben Taub and MD Anderson.
Carl was an avid reader, a lover of history and a continual learner. He loved to work with his hands painting, woodworking, and building models. He spent his time after retirement serving at the Houston Museum of Natural Science where he volunteered over 4,000 hours as a docent as well as serving on the Volunteer Guild. He had a passion for researching and giving tours of the museum's special exhibits and especially enjoyed being a leader of the Ecoteen program. Above all else, Carl loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, whether it was traveling to see them, volunteering with their schools, or playing hours of board games.
Carl is survived by his children, Layne and Debbi Trosper and Scott and Susan Driever and his grandchildren, Becca Stevenson, Drake and Kathryn Trosper, Lucas Trosper, Alexandra Trosper, Max Driever and Erik Driever, as well as his great-grandson James Stevenson. Carl is also survived by his sister Judith Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Myra Driever and his wife Sue.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 2 pm at Settegast-Kopf at Sugar Creek.
