Chris was born in Akron, Ohio on December 1, 1947. She graduated from Copley High School in 1965 and went on to receive her B.A. in English from Southern Illinois University and her M. Ed in Counseling and Personnel Services from Kent State University.
Chris moved to the Houston area in 1982 and spent over 30 years working in business leadership consulting, starting with Jeanneret & Associates in 1987 and moving on to become Operations and Program Manager with Personnel Decisions International. Most recently working as a consultant for Irving-based Leadership Worth Following.
An avid reader, she could typically be found in her favorite chair poring over a new book. Her greatest joys came from her son, Michael, and his dogs (Nola and Bonnie), as well as spending time with her cat Abby.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce G. and June C. Smith of Copley, Ohio; her brother, G. Bruce Smith III of Dublin, Ohio; as well as her stepmother Alma M. Smith of Copley, Ohio. Chris is survived by her son, Michael P. Golden of Sugar Land; former husband, Michael L. Golden of Sugar Land; nephew, Stephen G. Smith (Katherine Armstrong Smith) of Dallas; sister-in-law, Jill Kandell Smith of Dublin, Ohio; and Stephen Kandell (Malla Rie) of Dallas.
A loving and caring mother and a dear friend, she will be greatly missed. Services will be held at a later date in Akron.
