Clarke Hunter Harris, 88, of Richmond, Texas, graduated into the Kingdom of Heaven on January 5, 2020. His loving wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann Harris, was by his side. He was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, on August 16, 1931, to Clarke Edward and Martha Letitia Harris. Hunter attended McKeesport High School and received an associate’s degree from Sterling College in Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country. While serving, he met his loving wife. Hunter had a successful 42-year career with Sandmeyer Steel Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the VFW 0271, a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Fort Bend County Livestock Show, and Sugar Creek Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon. He enjoyed maintaining a cow and calf operation for 15 years. Hunter’s passions included airplanes, the Pittsburg Steelers, playing golf, good cigars and traveling in his motor home, but his true passion was for his wife and family and the Lord.
Hunter is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Harris; children, Karen Gilbert and husband George, Kevin Harris and wife Stacey, Kathy Heinze, and Kelly Harris and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Kimberly Fromberg, Timothy Heinze, Kristy Sue Gibson, Kyle Harris, Tucker Gilbert, Kelly Sue Perry, Hunter Gilbert, Courtney Heinze, Hannah Harris, Lauren Harris, Bailey Harris, and Blake Harris; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Harris, Richard Harris, and Jack Harris; and numerous other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarke and Martha Harris; grandson, George William Gilbert; and sister, Joanne Edgar.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. A committal service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2020, at 11:00am at the American Heritage Funeral Home at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 with full military honors to be rendered. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00pm at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Donations can be made in his name, to Sugar Creek Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
