Dan Shultz was born on July 25, 1948 and peacefully left this world on May 10, 2014, surrounded by his family and pastor. He lived a life packed full of wonderful memories, and leaves an amazing and enduring legacy for his loved ones to carry on. May his positive attitude live on in our hearts forever, and may his jokes keep us smiling.
Dan was born in Bennington, VT and is preceded in death by parents, Cy and Marjorie Shultz; and brother, Stephen Shultz. He is survived by his wife Linda Dougan Shultz; son Joshua Shultz and his wife Robin, and their daughter Natalie of Alexandria, VA; daughter Ryan Shultz of Dallas, TX; and sister Jean Hoyt and her family of Shaftsbury, VT as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and friends.
After graduating from the University of Vermont where he met Linda, Dan was drafted into service and earned his rank as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Infantry during the time of the Vietnam War. He and Linda married in June 1973. After an honorable discharge, Dan began his trade as a civil engineer and partnered with several multi-national corporations allowing him and his family to live all over the U.S., parts of Asia and Europe. After a dedicated career, he hung up his trade for more relaxing days spent in retirement beginning in 2010.
It is the Shultz family’s profound wish that all who knew Dan remember him as they do: a man who filled a room with laughter (and the best margaritas around), who shared his wisdom easily with all who asked for it, who loved his family deeply and without reservation, and whose selflessness and generosity inspired his children to live their lives with the same spirit that drove their father.
A Memorial Celebration of Dan's life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at River Pointe Church - Lakeside Building, 5000 Ransom Rd., Richmond, TX, 77469.
