David D. Clark; much-loved husband, father, brother, son, and friend; left us far too soon this December. Born to Harold and Phyllis Clark in Sioux City, Iowa, he grew up in South Sioux City, Nebraska and graduated from South Sioux City High School. He lived in Minnesota for some years, and it was there that he met the love of his life, Dawn. They moved to Texas where he worked in the social services field.
He was stalwart in his support for his wife and son, Arye, both steadying and supporting them. His compassion, though, extended beyond them to many people, especially those with developmental difficulties.
Dave enjoyed watching sports, loudly cheering on all the Houston teams when possible—groaning with dismay when it was not. He was unreserved in his support of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A good sports discussion was always in order.
He loved computers both as tools and as something to tinker with. While he enjoyed many contented hours playing computer games with Arye, he didn’t let the games or computers interfere with being out in nature. He enjoyed family trips to various parks around Texas, walks, fresh air, scenery, and wildlife.
A love of animals included several family cats—and adopting a dog was on his wish list.
Dave is survived by his wife, Dawn, and their son, Arye, in Texas. Other survivors include his mother, Phyllis Clark of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; brothers Ken (Deb) Clark, Jeff Clark, Alan (Cathy) Clark and their daughter Elizabeth Clark, all of Sioux City, Iowa; and mother-in-law, Kimberly, of Houston. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Clark.
There were still many more Huskers games to cheer on, more video games to be played, more adventures to be had with Dawn and Arye, and more good times to be spent with his extended family. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice. In accordance with Dave’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
