Clinton, Iowa is the birthplace of many famous people from NFL footballs stars to a number of congressmen to MLB Batting Champions. Clinton can even boast about being the birthplace of a number of NASA astronauts. But perhaps its greatest claim to fame is that it is the birthplace of Dean Charles Cooper.
Dean was born March 12, 1948, to Inez and Charles. But move to California at a very early age. Following his high school graduation Dean enlisted in the US Army where he faithfully served his country. When he was honorably discharged, Dean had a choice of where to begin a career. He chose to work for the Union Pacific Railroad; a career that would last 40 years. His primary role with Union Pacific involved the handling and removal of hazardous materials following train derailments.
Dean was a confirmed bachelor for most of his life; that is until he began a long distant chat with an amazing lady from Texas. This chat became a visit and then another and eventually Sandi moved to California to begin their new life together. It wasn’t long before Sandy and her 2 older children, David and Shana, became a true family.
Dean eventually retired from UPRR but he was not one to just sit around in retirement. It wasn’t long before the family began a start-up company called Anodize This! LLC. Today that small start-up company is among the respected companies in its field.
Dean lived a full life enjoying his friends, family and especially his grandkids (and Cooper the dog). He leaves a legacy that will shape generations to come. Dean will be missed.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Sandi; son David Specter and his wife, Christine and daughter, Shana Faciane; brothers Wesley and his wife Sherry, Gary and his wife Becky, Richard Garmsen and his wife Kathleen. Dean is also survived by his grandchildren, Nathan and Samantha Specter and numerous nieces, nephews and friends across the country.
A visitation for Dean will be held Sunday, July 3, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478. A committal service will occur Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
