Dina Zak

DINA ZAK (Armandina Gubbiotti Zakrzewski), passed away peacefully on January 25, 2012. Dina was born December 8, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, to Armando and Floria Lanzi Gubbiotti. She graduated from Eastern High School, Detroit, in 1943, and attended Wayne State University, before beginning her career in office management and accounting.

She married Edward James Zakrzewski on June 11, 1955, and raised two daughters in Detroit and Warren, Michigan. Among her employers in Detroit were Hansen Chevrolet, Jefferson Chevrolet, and Melrose Linen Service, where she worked from 1961 to 1979 as comptroller.

At a time when most look forward to retirement, Dina, Ed and daughters, moved to Sugar Land, Texas. Dina was an excellent gardener, and took great pride in her yard and homemaking skills. In Texas, Dina worked briefly for Mechanics Uniform Service in Stafford, and then for Gulfshore Oil Company for 20 years before retiring in 2002.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and parents. Surviving family include (but not limited to)

her devoted daughters, Kathleen Ann and Marymargaret; sister, Mickey Morgan; nieces and nephews, David Morgan, Steve and Tara Morgan, Linda and Mark Techentien, and Linda Zak; grand-nephews, Bret and Daniel Techentien, Jeff, Ben, and Zak Morgan; and grand-niece, Gillian Morgan. Also surviving are her precious pets, Roxanne, Frankie, Bella, Joey, and her special kitty, Ziva.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, January 30, 2012, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit), with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in the Chapel of The Divine Mercy @ St. Laurence Catholic Church, 3100 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land. The Rite of Committal will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston. For those desiring, the family requests that donations in Dina’s memory be made to any veteran’s charity or animal welfare organization of your choice.
