Donald Andrew Orin passed away peacefully and surrounded by family in Houston, TX at the age of 62. Donald was born on March 27th, 1957 in Youngstown, Ohio to William Everett Orin Jr. and Jean Rose Orin (Trinka).
He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Donald is survived by his wife, sons and daughter in-law, Rebecca Lynn Orin of Sugar Land, TX, Joshua Andrew Orin & Hannah Elizabeth Orin (Stephens) of League City, TX, and Jacob William Orin of Dallas, TX, and his brother, sister and brother in-law, David William Orin of Massillon, OH, and Nancy Jean Madonio (Orin) & Charles “Chas” Madonio of Kent, OH.
Donald graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown, OH in 1975, and from United Electronics Institute in Cuyahoga Falls, OH with a degree in Industrial Electronics in 1977. He married Rebecca Lynn Jenkins, his high school sweetheart on April 28th, 1979. Donald began working for AMF Tuboscope in 1977 in Houston, TX. After an expansive career in the field of IT, Donald celebrated 18 years of service with AT&T in 2019.
Donald was a member of Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, where he and his wife have attended since 1998. This afforded many opportunities for community outreach through his church and organizations such as Faith in Practice, which took him to places as far away as Guatemala. His faith was a key tenet of his life.
Donald also enjoyed playing the guitar, which he took up in 2013. His enthusiasm for becoming a musician late in life spurred his membership in a bluegrass band, which frequently played to church fish fries and retirement homes as an act of charity.
A memorial is scheduled for Friday, April 26th, 2019 at 2:30PM at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, 431 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, TX 77498, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send all tributes to SLFUMC Angels Among Us (www.sugarlandmethodist.org/caring), and/or Faith in Practice ([email protected]).
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of M.D. Anderson in Houston for their outstanding care. We are eternally grateful.
