Reverend Fouzi Deifallah Khawaja, born on September 7, 1929, in Al-Husn, Jordan, passed into eternal rest on August 23, 2025, at the age of 95. A devoted servant of God, Fouzi dedicated over 65 years to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, beginning his ministry in Jordan with the Church of the Nazarene and Worldwide Missions.
A proud graduate of the inaugural class of Nazarene Bible College in Lebanon in 1954, Fouzi’s calling led him to serve the Arabic-speaking community with unwavering faith. In 1981, he relocated his family from Jordan to the United States to pastor the Arabic Church in Pasadena, California. Two years later, in 1983, he accepted a call to lead the Arabic Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, where he faithfully ministered until moving to Houston, Texas, in 2008. Even in his later years, he preached at various churches until he could no longer stand at the pulpit. He continued to minister to anyone he came across from his wheelchair. His greatest joy was singing Sunday School songs with his beloved 12 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Deifallah and Shafiqa, his father having passed when Fouzi was six years old, his beloved brother Fayez Khawaja, and half-siblings Saleh and Fouzat Khoury. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sawsan Sunna Khawaja; daughters Ruthy (Majed Khalifa) and Esther; sons Gaius, Danny (Marissa), and David (Brooke); grandchildren Hibba, Jesse, and Ramzy Khalifa; Sarah and Dena Batarseh; Zain, Dalia, Hannah, and Nathan Khawaja; Levi, Micah, and Zianna Khawaja; half-sisters Salwa, Huda, and Kawkab Khoury; and half-brothers Fares and Milad Khoury.
Fouzi was a man of warmth and generosity, known for his love of feeding others—ensuring no guest left his home without a hearty meal. His passions included walking, reading, and traveling, with a cherished trip to Turkey to visit Biblical sites being a highlight of his life.
Rev. Fouzi Khawaja’s legacy of faith, love, and hospitality will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the communities he served.
