Alysoun Marks, 60, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Alysoun lived a life defined by love, creativity, and service.
She was born Frances Alysoun Bowles in Fayetteville, Arkansas on November 13, 1964, and raised on Bolivar Peninsula and in Beaumont, Texas.
Alysoun was an inspiring force and a compassionate soul. She was endlessly creative, with a talent for turning ideas into beauty, spaces into warmth, and gatherings into moments people remembered.
She earned her B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing in 1990 and an M.Ed. in Counseling in 1999, both from Lamar University. Early in her career, she owned a natural bead shop that showcased her love for color and meaningful connection. She practiced massage therapy for 15 years, bringing comfort and care to others through her healing touch. Later, she owned Community Counseling Center, where she devoted herself to helping others find healing and hope. Her calling was to serve, and she did so with deep empathy and joy.
She raised two sons, Damon Kerr and Christian Kerr, both of whom she was immensely proud. In 1998, Alysoun met the love of her life, Scott Marks. They married on July 31, 2004, and shared a deep bond filled with adventure, family, and mutual devotion. Alysoun traveled to 26 countries throughout her life, savoring the richness of culture and connection—some journeys with Scott, and others on her own or with loved ones. Alysoun and Scott also lived abroad for several years, first in Switzerland and later in Brazil. During their time in Switzerland, Alysoun served as President of the International Women’s Club of Geneva, where her leadership and warmth left a lasting mark.
Eventually settling in Sugar Land, Alysoun and Scott designed and built Bienville, their dream home that reflected her boundless love for family and community. She was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Richmond, where she served as Senior Warden and helped guide the congregation through two major leadership transitions.
Alysoun delighted in cooking for the people she loved – usually without a recipe – and had a natural gift for humor and hospitality. She cherished art, music, laughter, and celebrations of all kinds—especially Mardi Gras, which she and Scott honored with unforgettable gatherings that included elephants, Carnival samba dancers, and mermaids. She was a thoughtful gift-giver, a generous host, and a woman whose effortless beauty was matched only by her determination and heart.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Scott Marks; her children Damon (Vanessa) Kerr, Christian (Elizabeth) Kerr, Nicole (Channing) Credeur, and Michele (Jon) Nosala; her grandchildren, whom she adored, Avery Alys Kerr, Miles Kerr, Luca Kerr, Gabriella Kerr, Emrie LeBlanc, Cooper Credeur, and Carson Credeur; and her siblings Marie Nordgren, Mark Bowles, Rose Doré, Doug Hetsch, Deward Bowles, and Teddy Bowles. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Vincent Patton, and her father, Phillip Bowles.
Alysoun leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and vibrant joy that will continue to shine through the lives of everyone she touched.
