Gee Wing Mar passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 3, 1941, Gee Wing Mar led a life defined by hard work, kindness, and immense dedication to his loved ones and community. A spirit of generosity and wisdom, he was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gee Wing was a proud graduate of Edison Senior High School in Stockton, California. His devotion to his country was evident through his service as a Veteran of the United States Air Force. His commitment continued as he embarked on a successful journey as a restaurant entrepreneur—a career where his patience, discipline, and thoughtful nature flourished.
Beyond his professional life, Gee’s personal life was filled with the same selflessness and joy. Music was one of his great loves—he found peace and expression in playing both the saxophone and the violin. He cherished time spent with family, sharing delicious meals, watching old cowboy movies and football, and taking his children to the movie theater. He found joy in weekly phone calls with loved ones, cooking family favorites, and fixing things with his ever-curious capable hands.
Gee was deeply involved in his community through the LABC (London Area Baseball Council) and the London Red Raiders Boosters during his many years in London, Ohio where he and his wife opened and operated Gee’s China Lantern. His kindness and generosity extended to everyone he met. A proud member of The American Legion and a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and The Ohio State Buckeyes, he was known and respected throughout London, Ohio.
In marriage, Gee’s love story with Brenda Mar, his wife of 56 years, was one of true devotion. Together they built a life of partnership, laughter, and unwavering support—an example of love that inspired all who knew them.
Gee was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Fong Sui and Yee Way Hing Mar; his sisters, Siu K. Yee and Yum K. Wong, and cousin Man Hong Mar.
He leaves behind a family who will forever honor his memory: his loving wife Brenda Mar; sons Rob Mar (wife Maryann Mar) and Paul Mar, daughter Judy Mar Baker (husband Greg Baker); and his adored grandchildren Alex Mar, Morgan Mar, Brendan Baker, and Henley Baker. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who treasured him deeply.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Gee’s Houston family whose incredible support and care provided comfort and belonging during Gee and Brenda’s time in Houston, and the Yee and Mar families in Ohio for all their years of love and support.
Gee Wing Mar’s life was one of quiet generosity, strong character, and enduring love. His memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
