Born on April 9, 1946, in Robstown, Texas, to Florencia Weser Garcia and Jose Garcia, George was a man of faith, resilience, kindness, and devotion. A longtime resident of Missouri City, Texas, he was deeply cherished by all who knew him.
George proudly served his country with honor and distinction. From June 24, 1968, to June 23, 1970, he served in the United States Army, where through dedication and courage he achieved the rank of sergeant. During his service in Vietnam, George was wounded in combat, a sacrifice for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He embodied discipline, courage, and selflessness throughout his military service, values that remained with him for the rest of his life. His service was also recognized with numerous decorations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, and Expert Rifle designation.
Following his military service, George built a successful professional career. He began at Coastal Corporation as a file clerk in the mailroom and, through hard work and perseverance, rose to become an accounting executive. He later brought his talents and dedication to El Paso Corp. and Kinder Morgan.
George was a devoted family man who treasured time with his loved ones. He shared 56 joyful years of marriage with his wife, Millie, and together they raised three sons: George, Joe Michael, and David. He was a proud grandfather to Alec, Joe Michael II, and Esai. He is survived by his sisters, Petra Villanueva, Maimie Cabrera, and Gloria Ramon.
George was also deeply loved by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as countless close friends who became like family over the years. His warmth, generosity, and laughter touched each of them in a unique way, leaving behind cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.
Beyond his career and service, George had a zest for life. He loved music and dancing, and one of his fondest memories was dancing on stage with Patti LaBelle — a moment that captured his joyful spirit. He also enjoyed taking cruises with his family, creating lasting memories on the open seas. At home, George took pride in caring for his vehicles and made sure his family’s cars were always well maintained, a reflection of his dedication and love in even the smallest details of life.
Above all, George’s life was a testament to love, strength, and faith. May our hearts be ever grateful for the precious gift our Lord bestowed upon us — heaven’s perfect love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
