Gerald Bruce Buckles

GERALD BRUCE BUCKLES died peacefully in the care of his doctors on July 5, 2015, in Sugar Land, Texas, at the age of 65. Bruce was born on February 22, 1950, in Glenwood, Colorado, to Gerald and Martha Coryell Buckles. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant Radio Control and Repair Specialist from 1972 to 1976. Bruce graduated from the University of Colorado in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering. He moved with his family to Slidell, Louisiana in 1978, after accepting a job with Shell Oil Company as a geophysicist in the Exploration Division, and was later transferred to Sugar Land, Texas, in 1983, where he spent the remainder of his life. Bruce enjoyed music, played the piano beautifully, and always appreciated the latest in computers and technology. He also loved the outdoors and was a regular attendant to his church.

Bruce is survived by his children, daughter, Jessica Buckles and her husband Jeff Farrell; son, Nathan Buckles and his wife Catherine; daughter, Katie Weaver and her husband Wesley; daughter, Martha Carruth and her husband Jason; daughter, Theresa Walters and her husband Gordon; and son, Army Staff Sergeant Gregory Buckles; his grandchildren, Nadia, Eli and Gage Buckles, Blake and Isabel Weaver, Keller Carruth, and Dylan Walters; his mother, Martha Irene Buckles; and brother, Stephen Buckles and his wife Jill. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Barbour Buckles.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 13, 2015, at Parkway United Methodist Church,5801 New Territory Blvd, Sugar Land, TX, with Pastor Matt Neely, officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bruce's life. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Parkway United Methodist Church.
