Guy Douglas Nell was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 7, 1941, he was one of four children born to parents Guy A. and Dorothy Nell. Guy passed peacefully in his sleep on July 9,2026 at the age of 85.
Guy grew up in a military family living in many different places, one being overseas in Germany. The family relocated to Del Rio, Texas where he graduated from Del Rio High School in 1959. Guy then went on to attend Texas Tech where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1964. He became an Actuary and lived and worked in Dallas eventually landing in the Houston area where he started his own company working in this field until late in life. Guy loved traveling with his wife and family, Aruba, Branson, Vegas and Florida being a few of his favorite places. In addition to traveling he and his wife had season tickets to the Texans, Astros, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for many years. Guy was always up for a great steak, rare of course, or for the weekly tex-mex fare. He was also a “gadget guy” ready for a trip to Best Buy or Sharper Image for the latest new gadget. Guy loved playing games and was competitive, a few favorites being billiards, darts, cards, and dominos. He also loved to dance. Guy greatly enjoyed it when his grandchildren would come for a visit to play pool, basketball, go out on the paddleboat, and always had food to feed the catfish. Guy loved his family immensely, he was always happy and appreciative of any visits or help he was given and made sure to tell you that. Guy will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
