On Saturday, May 11, 2013, IMA JEAN (CARTER) BOONE, passed from this world into the loving arms of Jesus. Jean was born in Perry County, Arkansas on November 15, 1928. She was the 2nd child born to Elmer and Millie Carter, two hard working sharecroppers, and grew up on a working cotton farm, along with eight siblings. After graduating high school, she moved to Houston, Texas where she met her husband, Dean, and they were married for 32 years before his passing in November, 1982.
She was a housewife for many years and went to work in the 70's in the banking industry and retired as a bank teller at River Oaks Bank.
Jean is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a lover of animals, her loving grandchildren and of nature. Her love of flowers, especially roses, was something that everyone that knew her admired. She truly had a "green" thumb and always enjoyed the challenge of nursing a sick plant back to health. After her retirement, Jean was rarely available because of her commitment to volunteering at Methodist Hospital Medical Center.
Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carter and Linda Boone of Sugar Land, her brother, Jack Carter of DeSota, Texas, Johnny Carter of Red Oak, Texas, her sisters, Bobbie Barlow of Millsboro, Delaware, and Faye Munn of Clarksville, Tennessee, her grandchildren, Heather and Joel Langbehn of Canby, Oregon, Jenny and Travis Heidrick of Sugar Land, Texas, and Ashley Boone of Sugar Land.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Elmer and Millie Carter, her husband, Gaylon Dean Boone, her brother, Billy Carter, and her sisters, Fredona Watts, Mary Joe Strope, and Louise Jackson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in the Morrow Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek , with the Rev. Phil Grose, officiating.
