Irene Margaret Edwards

Irene Margaret Edwards was born in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada on August 1, 1945. She entered Heaven’s gates on February 1, 2019 from Sugar Land, Texas. Irene was an amazing mother, homemaker, realtor, tax consultant and friend. Irene was an excellent cook and baker and she loved entertaining and preparing meals and baking for her family and friends. Over the years she collected many recipes from around the world. She was very witty and colorful and enjoyed playing cards and the slot machines! For many years, she loved to work passionately for hours in the kitchen, each Christmas; to make pecan tassies and other baked treats for family and every friend and neighbor. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Robert Caulfield Edwards. She was also predeceased by: her parents Chesley Foreshaw Lucas (Poppy) and Margaret Daisy Halliday (Nan), as well as her in-laws: Ralph Cleveland Edwards (Grandad) & Nina Alma Caulfield Edwards (Mago); her brother Edward (Teddy) Lucas; and her two sisters, Martha Lacey and Junette Mealy, brothes-n-laws Pat Lacey and Pat Mealey her niece Colleen, brother-in-law Sam Edwards and sister-in-law Betty, brother-n-law Jack Edwards and niece Robin, sister-in-law Alma Mable Chaney and brother-in-law Robert Chaney. Irene is immediately survived by: her two sons & their families, Wayne D. Lucas & wife Michelle, and Stephen Christopher Edwards & wife Nichole; and her daughter, Miki Elaine Edwards. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael Wayne Lucas, Amber Nicole Lucas & Brian Casales, Landon Christopher Edwards, Ryder Christopher Edwards, Sebastian Cordero, Ayden Cordero, Kendall Cordero, Gaige Cordero, Blake & Hannah Hopson, Tyler Hopson, Justin Hopson. Irene had two Great-Grandchildren that she was most proud of: Aubree Mayre Casales and Lincoln Porter Hopson; and one more one the way, Presleigh Joy Hopson, due in July 2019. Irene is also survived by her brothers & their families: Norman Lucas & Evelyn, Chesley Lucas & Rose, Robert Lucas & Ingrid, Johnny Lucas & Sandra, David Lucas & Brenda and sister-in-law, Marie Lucas and sister-in-law, Patricia Edwards. Irene loved and was very fond of her many nieces & nephews: Carolyn, Lana, Tammy, MaryAnn, Karen, Roseann, Sandy, Chesley, Tracy, Bobby, Kelly, Jonathan, Laurie, Shelley, Heather, Rosemary, Edward Jr., Robert, Wanda, Paul, Shawn, Colin, Patrick, Peggy, Donna, Craig, Kim, Rick, Dawn, Debbie, Kristie, Ralph, Nancy, Jennifer, Amy, Teresa (Tess) and Robin. Her son & daughter-in-law, Wayne & Michelle, lovingly cared for her the last several years of her life. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Irene their greatest gratitude. Irene did not want any wake or memorial services, but instead, her wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes spread in Lake Charles, Louisiana (her favorite gambling spot) and back home in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. The family will plan a future trip home to St. Johns to spread her ashes in loving memory. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to Irene Edwards Memorial Fund for Irene’s Grandchildren and Greatgrandchildren’s education fund that she had started. Biography
