James "Jim" Venoy Agleton, a man of unmeasurable integrity and quiet strength, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas. Born on April 9, 1934, in Beeville, Texas, Jim was the only child of Venoy "Jack" Agleton and Mary Jo Taylor Agleton.
Jim spent his early years in Beeville, where he attended public school. He later pursued higher education at A&I University in Kingsville, Texas, earning an engineering degree. While in college, he honorably served in the Army Reserves.
Upon graduation, Jim embarked on a distinguished career in the Oil and Gas Business in Houston, Texas, where he worked until his retirement in 2004. Even after stepping away from his professional life, Jim cherished his connections, regularly meeting former business associates for breakfast or lunch to share laughs, catch up, and reminisce about "the old days."
On May 12, 1956, Jim married the love of his life, Margie Sue Agleton, in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends at their church in Beeville. Their enduring marriage spanned almost 70 years, a testament to their deep love and commitment. In his final moments, Jim's thoughts remained consistently with his wife, ensuring her well-being.
A man of simple pleasures and a private nature, Jim was never one for flash or being the center of attention. He found immense joy in the quiet moments of life. He was a devoted member of Bellaire Methodist Church in Bellaire, Texas.
After retirement, Jim embraced his passions for fishing, golfing, and traveling. He particularly loved fishing with his son-in-law, Tony Muscarello, and his grandson, Kyle Muscarello. The birth of his only grandchild, Kyle, was truly his pride and joy, and he beamed about him until the very end. Jim also found great enjoyment in listening to Elvis Presley songs and watching John Wayne movies. He and Margie were enthusiastic members of an Elvis Presley Fan Club, attending yearly events where fellow fans became like family over the years.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Margie Sue Agleton, and their two daughters, Annette Muscarello and Michelle Agleton. He also leaves behind his son-in-law, Tony Muscarello, his cherished grandson, Kyle Muscarello, and Kyle’s wife, Kaylyn Muscarello.
Jim's honest, fair, and strong character, coupled with his unwavering integrity, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
