Our witty and facetious husband, father, grandfather (‘pappi’), uncle, son, brother and friend, Jay Christopher Patterson, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2018 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX at the age of 68. He touched all of our hearts in many meaningful ways and will be missed and remembered forever.
Jay was born on October 21, 1949 in Beaumont, TX and was the son of Jack and Sue Patterson. As the oldest of two sibling’s, Kelly Thaden and York Patterson, Jay has always been the one taking care of others and putting others first. He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX in 1972 with a Bachelor Political Science and by 1986 open his own business Great Plains Pool & Spa Products.
In 1975, Jay married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they have shared 42 years of marriage with each other. They have two wonderful and charming boys Travis and Blake. Jay found joy in everything his boys were a part of from volunteering and coaching Little League Baseball; he also found joy in training Labrador retrievers for field trials. He enjoyed spending time at his ranch in Schulenburg, TX raising beef master cattle and donating to the Schulenburg FFA. If that wasn’t enough he enjoyed spending his time playing golf, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by mother, Sue Patterson; spouse, Barbara Patterson; children, Blake with spouse Laura, Travis with spouse Alexis; grandchildren, Kaden and Ryder; brother, York with spouse Vicki and nephew Hunter; sister Kelly with spouse Bob and nephew Jesse. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Patterson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6pm on Wednesday April 4, 2018, at The Settegast-Koft Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, TX 77478.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jay’s honor to MD Anderson Cancer Center at gifts.mdanderson.org #endcancer or to Schulenburg FFA at Schulenburg.ffanow.org.
