Joe Thomas Hunt

Joe graduated from Sterling High School. During his high school years he was an avid surfer. He worked at Fluor for 35 years, serving in various positions in the electrical department and project management positions including a short assignment in London (1979). For a period he was an avid runner, running in and completing three marathons. He was best known for his love of hunting, fishing, chili cookoffs and music. Joe loved to fish so much that he guided fishing trips out of Port O’Connor. As a member of CCA he fished in several CCA fishing tournaments. He also fished for fun and enjoyment with his wife Joannie. When hunting season came around there were ducks and geese to shoot or trips to Colorado to hunt elk and mule deer with his friends. Joe loved everything about the outdoors.

Joe was like sunshine, everyone bloomed under his glow. We are privileged to have known him. Every person who come in contact with Joe is a better person for knowing him. He set a shining example of what a great husband, brother, uncle and friend should be. He is someone we can all aspire to be like. He always brought a smile and joy to whomever he was with. He always saw the good in everyone and he never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He made you feel important and loved unconditionally. Every mark he made in each of our lives will be with us forever. He will greatly be missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Hunt and Lucille (Stokes) Hunt.

Joe was survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joannie; sisters, Billie Jo Phillips and Charlene Astramovich; brother, John R. “Bubba” Hunt; brother-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and extended loving family.
