John Posey Chadderdon

JOHN CHADDERDON, 59, of Sugar Land, passed away the evening of February 2, 2025 after a lengthy hospital stay supported by his family.

John was born on July 2, 1965 to Joanne Posey and Fred Keyser in Indianapolis, Indiana. Although he frequently visited his father, Joanne moved John to Houston, Texas before his first birthday – John always said he got to Texas as soon as he could. His stepfather, Jack Charles Chadderdon, became his hero and John took his last name at age 21. John continued to live in the Houston area for the rest of his life, and he greatly admired the city as an avid Rockets, Texans and Astros fan.

John attended Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts and St. Stephens in Austin, Texas before graduating from Memorial High School in 1983 and then continuing his studies at the University of Houston. Although they met in the 7th grade, John began dating the love of his life, Shari Davis Chadderdon, when they were both students at UH. John and Shari were married in 1987 and enjoyed a happy 37-year marriage with two sons, Jack and Andrew.

A lifelong entrepreneur, John co-founded Quest Offshore Resources with Paul Hillegeist in 1999 and served as Quest’s Chief Executive Officer for many years – John enjoyed a long career in the data and conference sectors of the offshore oil & gas and renewable energy industries, which took him on trips across the world. One of his favorite achievements was expanding Quest internationally and co-founding OTC Brasil in Rio de Janeiro.

John had a love for travel and went on too many international trips to count with family, friends and colleagues, including numerous trips to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Greece and Brazil, among many others. John also had many interests throughout his life, including current events, history, politics, sports (especially when his two sons were participating), comedy, trivia, music, karaoke, prospective business opportunities and cars. He loved entertaining friends and spending time with his family the most.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Chadderdon; his stepfather, Jack Charles Chadderdon; his father, Fred Keyser; and his mother-in-law, Jean Davis.

John is survived by his loving wife, Shari Chadderdon; his son, Andrew Chadderdon; his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Caroline Chadderdon; and his soon-to-be first grandchild, Jack Chadderdon, Jr. (“JJ”), who is due in February 2025. In addition, he left many loving friends and relatives from his large extended family, including his father-in-law and mother-in-law Dr. Mark Davis and Della Davis and members of the Parsons and Posey families. Shari and her children are especially grateful for all their love and support during John’s final days.

We will be celebrating John with a Reception starting at 4 p.m. before a Memorial Service at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Settegast-Kopf Company @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
